Beginning

Happy New Year!  I find that each new year seems fresh, like new-fallen snow.  It’s like a new canvas, at once blank and beckoning.  There are so many paths to take through the January snow and I am eager to put down my tracks.  But it’s easy to get lost in the opportunities.  So I like to start each day with figure drawing. This is a way to get my brain in gear, my spirit focused, my hand-eye coordination tuned up.  Then I am ready for whatever is next.  The first thing on my mind is to thank you for supporting my art practice, whether you purchased art or read my blog or brought your friends to my Mainframe Studio. I much appreciate your interest in my work.

Today I am preparing for a show of my work with three other artists.  We each had wonderful experiences as the artist-in-residence at Whiterock, in west central Iowa.  Our reception is this Thursday, January 5, 2023, 5:30pm at LaPoste in Perry Iowa.  Please join Gary Hoff, Leslie Leavenworth, Diane Liepa and me if you can.  Our work will be available to see at LaPoste through March 2023.

Another opportunity to see my work is at Mainframe, 900 Keo, Studio #273. Our first Open House of the year will be Friday, January 6, 2023, 5-8pm.  And of course you can always find me online at MickeyCarlsonFineArt.com
