Season It!

During the cold dark winter I find its important to avoid boredom by shaking up my routine.  Its the same idea as putting various spices on a dish in order to keep the flavors fresh.  So this past winter I held a class for anyone wanting to learn to paint the costumed figure.  It kept us busy practicing our drawing skills.  We experimented with graphite, red chalk, pastel, and oil paint.  We did gesture drawings, longer poses and portraits, all from live models.  I enjoyed every minute!  Hopefully my students found some value in these traditional excercises.  I was tired but never bored! I will post pictures soon.

Now the season has changed, the sun is up earlier, the days are longer – and I love being outside this time of year! In spring everything is fresh and new, and possibilities seem endless.  I am preparing for a show at Zanzibar where my work will be on display during June.  I will be demonstrating plein air painting at Zanzibar June 12 as part of Art Week, so please stop and say hello!

Also coming up is our next Open House at Mainframe, 900 Keo on Friday, June 7, 2023, 5-8pm.  I will be there, in Studio #273.  And of course you can always see more of my work online at MickeyCarlsonFineArt.com
