Self Portrait

Some artists have a love/hate relationship with self portraits and I am one of them.  Looking in the mirror requires forgiveness of self and reconciliation with the aging woman I see there. I explore the lines that gravity has drawn as a history of my experiences, along with marks left by joy, love for life, and hope for the future.  For many people this is the time of the year to think about forgiveness, reconciliation, and recentering. We are all looking for renewal, for spiritual enrichment, for another season of growth.

I find that early spring is a good time to look in the mirror and decide whether I like the person looking back.  I try to forgive whatever I don’t like there, and resolve to look more deeply into that mirror for signs of progress on the path of my purpose. So this spring I wish you a good mirror for reflection, soft rain for your spiritual enrichment, and sunshine for another season of growth toward your purpose. Thank you for supporting my artistic adventures!

You can find me most First Fridays of any month in Studio 273 at Mainframe Studios, from 5-8pm. And you can see my art at  MickeyCarlsonFineArt.com
